Zoo
Saturday I took the boys to the zoo while Tim worked on the boat he recently bought from his boss. When I asked John later what his favorite part had been he said "riding the tiger." He's referring to a statue. In fact, the most memorable parts of the day weren't very zoo-like. John enjoyed playing on the playground (several times), eating ice-cream, and seeing a movie. He had his first experience in a movie theater and with a 3-D movie. We watched a 6-minute SpongeBob SquarePants movie. If you've ever seen SpongeBob SquarePants, you know 6 minutes is a long time.
We did see bears, baby lion cubs, koalas, lots of monkeys, an alligator, giraffes, zebras, and one lone, very scrawny rabbit in the Gorilla's habitat, but no Gorillas. I guess those Gorillas keep that bunny hoppin'!

Summer Fun
We've had lots of visitors recently. Mom came and took care of David while we were out of town and Dad came for a visit this month as well. Mom brought her little Chihuahuas and they got along with Sophie and the kids. David is walking with the assistance of anything he can push. He pushed a little chair across the kitchen floor and then walked across the kitchen with a little rolling toy. He'll be walking on his own soon!

Dancing and Pirates
Here are a few pictures from this month. David isn't content just sitting and looking around. Here he is dancing at Granny and PePaw's house.
Friday, July 18th was Pirate Day at John's school. Since he is very interested in pirates right now, we went all out and he wore a pirate costume, had an eye patch, and a few tattoos. I almost lost it when he said he wanted to take it all off as we were getting in the car to go to school. But I convinced him to wear it into school and I think he was relieved to not be the only child whose mother had dressed him funny. Most of the kids were all decked out.

Palmetto Falls
Tim and I took John and Jamison to Palmetto Falls waterpark on Fort Jackson on Tuesday, July 1. We all had a blast. The water was shallow enough that they could stand up. They enjoyed the water slide and John insisted that I not catch him when he got to the bottom of the slide! We played on the playground right before we left. The picture in the car is of one tired little boy.

Myrtle Beach: June 15-21, 2008

For the second year in a row, we took the camper to Pirateland Campground at Myrtle Beach for a week of fun in the sun. Two other families that we tailgate with at Clemson camped as well.
There are so many pictures that I thought posting them to a blog would be a more efficient way of sharing the pictures.
John did great in the pool. He swam alone with his arm swimmies on and even learned to jump into the pool and go under without being caught. He and Jamison had the most fun creating roadways in the sand on the beach for their dump trucks or in the dirt at the campsite for their cars.
This was David's second camping trip, but his first trip to the beach. While on this trip, he learned to crawl and pull up! Life as we have known it is OVER. As you'll see he also mastered driving the golf cart. Just kidding.
David and Carley enjoyed the frog pool on the beach and David took his naps in the stroller when we were at the beach.
A couple of nights we went up to the arcade and John "played" games. He loved sitting in the race cars or on the motorcycle game. We got ice cream cones almost every night.
One afternoon we went with Brad, Kellee, Jamison and Carley to Broadway at the Beach which is a huge outdoor shopping area. We went to Ridemakerz. It's like Build-A-Bear, but it's cars that can be customized. The boys had lots of fun making their cars and trucks. John made a monster dump truck.
The video is my first attempt at making a video with my new digital camera so I didn't know how long it would record for (and I didn't realize you'd be able to hear me talking!). Tim was getting ready to grill us steaks.
